2008 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival:
Field trips, workshops, vendors, exhibits, activities for youth and Scouts. They are all available at the Festival. Check it out at the Davis County Fairpark, (151 S 1100 W, Farmington). See greatsaltlakebirdfest.com for latest information.

Farmington Bay Wildlife Management Area
provides a diversity of habitats for waterfowl, shorebirds, and other wildlife and has been one of our favorite field trip sites for many years. Mr. Rich Hansen, W.M.A. Superintendent, will give us an in-depth look at what it takes to manage these artificially created wetlands and waterfowl populations and will give us an appreciation for these productive and interesting areas. At the Ogden Nature Center (966 W 12th).

7 Saturday 7:30-9:30am National Trails Day
Weber Pathways is sponsoring a ceremony for National Trails Day at the North Ogden Equestrian Park Trailhead which is located near the north end of Mountain Road (2675 North Mountain Road). Wasatch Audubon will lead a bird walk before other activities begin. We will search mountain brush and riparian habitats for a variety of birds. After the walk there are other scheduled activities and refreshments. For more information check www.weberpathways.org.

This is a new area for us. Kris Purdy visited it last July and highly recommends it. She saw a large number of wetland bird species. Meet at 8:00 at Smith’s (Harrison & 12th St.) to carpool. Bring a lunch.

Mr. Eric McCully,
Legacy Parkway Preserve Manager, will discuss the background and history of this controversial and important area. The encroachment on wetland habitats by various aspects of human population growth has increased greatly in recent years, resulting in conflict, law suits, and many questions regarding highway construction and habitat preservation. Eric will bring us up to date on the final status of the Legacy Parkway Preserve and his role in managing this valuable resource. At the Ogden Nature Center (966 W. 12th).
